What We’re Watching Friday: Baylor at UCF, the Unbeaten Rockets in Dallas and Lakers-Warriors on Halloween Eve

What we're watching Friday: Baylor at UCF, Rockets at Mavericks, Lakers at Warriors

Friday is Halloween Eve, and the treats are a Big 12 coin flip in Orlando, the unbeaten Rockets in Dallas, and Lakers-Warriors on Prime. Here’s what we’re watching. All times Central.

  1. Baylor (4-3) at UCF (4-3), 6:30 p.m., ESPN. Same record, and Baylor is a 1.5-point favorite on the road. That line is basically saying “pick the winner.” The loser drops to 4-4 and starts sweating bowl eligibility. Somebody leaves Orlando with a real problem.
  2. Rockets (5-0) at Mavericks (3-2), 7 p.m., NBA League Pass. Houston is 5-0 and favored by 5.5 on the road. Five games is a small sample, but nobody’s beaten them yet. A Texas road game on a Friday night is a fair test.
  3. Lakers (4-1) at Warriors (2-3), 9 p.m., Prime Video. The late game, and the one everybody will flip to. Golden State is 2-3 and home. The Lakers are giving 1.5 on the road.
  4. Knicks (2-3) at 76ers (4-1), 6:30 p.m., Prime Video. New York is a 1.5-point road favorite while sitting at 2-3. Philly has the better record and is getting points at home. I’d be annoyed if I were a Sixers fan.
  5. Tulane (3-4) at Charlotte (1-6), 6 p.m., ESPN2. Tulane is 3-4 and laying 8.5 on the road. A team that’s under .500 shouldn’t be comfortable laying a number like that anywhere.

No Five and a Fade picks on Friday’s games. Our college picks are for Saturday, and so is the Bama Hat Guarantee on Utah. Here’s the whole card in two minutes. We’re going 6-0. Write it down.

And starting Friday, every pick goes head to head with the crowd: Jeremy vs. the Public.

Missed Thursday night? Jordan Love took the NFL passing lead as Green Bay beat Carolina 27-19.
