Baseball’s over and the Brewers are world champions, so Thursday belongs to football and the NBA. Here’s what we’re watching. All times Central.
- Panthers (3-3) at Packers (4-3), 7:15 p.m., Prime Video. Thursday Night Football in Green Bay. Green Bay is favored by 3.5 at home on a short week. Carolina has to prove it can win at Lambeau before I believe the Panthers are for real.
- Grizzlies (4-0) at Trail Blazers (3-0), 9 p.m. Two of the NBA’s last unbeaten teams, and nobody had this matchup circled in October. Somebody’s perfect start ends tonight. Portland has the home floor and the crowd will be loud.
- Troy (3-4) at James Madison (7-1), 6:30 p.m., ESPN2. JMU keeps stacking wins. Games like this are where a Group of Five contender either takes care of business or gives the committee a reason to look elsewhere.
- Florida Atlantic (5-2) at North Texas (5-2), 6:30 p.m., ESPN. Same record, and North Texas is a two-touchdown favorite at home. Midweek college football is always weirder than the line says.
- Cavaliers (3-1) at Hawks (2-3), 6 p.m., NBA TV. Both teams played tonight, so it’s a back-to-back on both sides. Legs matter more than talent in this one.
