What We’re Watching Sunday: Unbeaten Vikings at Detroit, Chiefs-Broncos for the West and Our Jets Fade

Five and a Fade card: What we're watching Sunday in NFL Week 8, Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos, Raiders at Jets

The last unbeaten team in the NFL goes to Detroit, the Chiefs and Broncos fight for the AFC West, and our NFL Fade is on the board at noon. Here’s what we’re watching Sunday. All times Central.

  1. Minnesota Vikings (6-0) at Detroit Lions (4-2), noon, Fox. The Vikings are the only perfect team left, and they’re still a field-goal underdog. Detroit at home is the first real exam. If Minnesota wins this one, stop asking whether they’re for real.
  2. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) at Denver Broncos (5-2), 3:25 p.m., CBS. First place in the AFC West, at altitude. The Broncos are home and getting points. Every year somebody says this is the year Kansas City slips. Sunday is a chance to prove it.
  3. Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) at New York Jets (2-5), noon, Fox. This is the NFL Fade. 81% of the bets were on the Raiders when I wrote it. I’ve got the Jets +1.5, and the line has since flipped to Jets -1.5, so the market came my way. Jets win. I’m not worried. (I’m a little worried.)
  4. Cleveland Browns (5-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2), noon, CBS. Two 5-2 teams in the AFC North, and the public is on the Browns. Our pick: Steelers -3.5. Pittsburgh at home in a division game is a verdict, not a guess.
  5. Tennessee Titans (1-6) at Cincinnati Bengals (4-2), noon, CBS. The Titans are 12.5-point underdogs. Nobody expects much, which is exactly when a young team can surprise you. We’ll be watching every snap anyway. Titan Up.

Sunday night: the Eagles (2-5) visit the Commanders (1-4-1) at 7:20 p.m. on NBC. Two teams that need it badly.

Missed Saturday? USC stunned Ohio State, Miami survived and our picks went 3-3. The head-to-head with the betting public is in Fading the Crowd. Schedule, records and current lines from ESPN. Our lines are as of when the column was written.
