Anthony Edwards Scored 47 and the Timberwolves Still Lost in OT. He’s the NBA’s Best Scorer Anyway.

Anthony Edwards 47 points card from the Cleveland Cavaliers 127-125 overtime win over the Minnesota Timberwolves

Anthony Edwards scored 47 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, and the Minnesota Timberwolves still lost, 127-125 in overtime.

Ant went 19-of-34 from the field, 5-of-15 from three and 4-of-6 at the line in 41 minutes. He was a plus-11 in a game his team lost by two. That’s how good he was.

The game was tied 113-113 after regulation, and Cleveland won the overtime 14-12. Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs with 26, James Harden had 19 points and 9 assists, and Evan Mobley put up 18 points and 10 rebounds. Cleveland had the better supporting cast, and in overtime that was enough.

So here’s the question: is Anthony Edwards the best pure scorer in the NBA right now? Our answer is yes. Nobody gets to 47 the way he does,: 14 twos, five threes and four free throws. The record says loss. The tape says the best player on the floor.
