No. 18 LSU went to Jordan-Hare on Saturday and beat Auburn 38-17, and Sam Leavitt was the whole story: 32-of-45 for 387 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions, plus a 4-yard touchdown run of his own.
The game was over at halftime. LSU scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, the last one Leavitt’s run with 17 seconds left in the half, and went to the locker room up 31-10. Auburn never got closer than two scores after that.
- Leavitt: 387 passing yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, and 54 rushing yards with a TD
- Jackson Harris: 9 catches, 178 yards, 2 TD (including a 70-yarder)
- LSU outgained Auburn 552 to 271
- LSU is 6-2; Auburn falls to 4-3
Is the LSU offense for real? Our answer: yes. Three hundred eighty-seven yards with zero turnovers on the road in the SEC isn’t a fluke, it’s a quarterback who knows exactly where the ball is going. Harris is the deep threat everybody in the league now has to account for.
The question is whether the defense keeps up in November. But if you’re a top-10 team with LSU left on the schedule, you’re not sleeping great this week.
