Five and a Fade Daily: Seattle Smothers the Chiefs, Two Walk-Off Kicks and a 49ers Loss

Five and a Fade card: Seattle Seahawks 20, Kansas City Chiefs 3 final on Sunday Night Football, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Emanuel Wilson stat lines

Seattle held Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to 213 total yards and three points in a 20-3 win on Sunday Night Football. It capped an NFL Sunday with two walk-off field goals, an overtime finish and the 49ers’ first loss of the season.

Sunday night: Seahawks 20, Chiefs 3

Kansas City’s last real chance came early in the fourth quarter. Down 13-3, the Chiefs put together an 11-play, 60-yard drive, and Harrison Butker’s 45-yard field goal went wide right with 8:38 left. Seattle answered with nine plays and 65 yards, and Emanuel Wilson ran it in from 21 yards out with 3:47 to go. The Chiefs turned it over on downs on the next possession. That was the ballgame.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 9 passes for 150 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown that was first ruled out of bounds at the 1 and reversed on replay. Wilson ran 24 times for 100 yards. Sam Darnold went 20 of 28 for 257 yards. Seattle converted 11 of 16 third downs and held the ball for 35:51. Kansas City never got into the red zone. Not once.

We had the Chiefs +2.5. Never close. That makes our NFL week 1-5, and the lone win came courtesy of Denver. Half the reason we post these picks is so you can laugh at us. Mission accomplished.

Our question: Is Minnesota the best team in football? We’ll say it: yes, until somebody beats them.
